Acts 2:13-21

1. River Kids conversation:  This week we talked about different names of the Holy Spirit and how in the Bible a name reflects something important about the person. The names we looked at were Spirit of God, Spirit of truth, Counsellor, Spirit of glory, Spirit of wisdom and understanding. These tell us lots about who the Holy Spirit is and how He relates to us. Talk to your kids about their own names. Why did you give them their name? What does their name mean? Is there a name of the Holy Spirit that is more special at this time in your life and/or for them?

2. Acts 2 says “everyone heard them declaring the wonders of God in their own tongues.” Reflect on your ethnicity - your cultural heritage. How does God speak to you through your ethnicity? What about this enhances your view of and relationship with God? How can your particular world view and cultural lens enhance The River?  Is there something more we need to do as a church to live out God’s love for all people? Do you have a cultural bias that is hindering unity in the body of Christ? Confess your struggle and repent of any racism God bring to your attention.

3. Darcy also talked about how God is “doing a new thing.” Ask God to open your eyes to what He’s doing currently in your life, your community, our church. Where is the upheaval? Where is God inviting you to trust and embrace hope instead of giving way to fear? Wrestle honestly with God around how you feel about that. Allow yourself to grieve well in this season of transition as you embrace the new thing God has.

4. What does “it starts with me” look like in your life?

5. Connect with someone to discuss what God is saying to you, share your experience and pray together.
