A few weeks ago, we read Psalm 1
“Blessed is the person who walks not in the council, nor stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers, but his delight is in the law of the Lord.”
In this we see a slow digression… Walking, standing, then sitting.
Comfortable, at home with, one of the crowd.
So, who are you walking with?
When I think of the phrase walking with, I think about mentoring.
Who, or what would you consider to be your mentor?
The thing is, you will become like the one who is mentoring you.
The idea of mentoring is as old as the hills. It comes from Homer’s Odyssey (900-810 BC), in which Odysseus entrusts to his friend, Mentor, the education of Telemachus, his son.
Jesus called it discipleship. But mentoring and discipleship are synonymous, aren’t they?
