You Are a Citizen of Heaven

I continue to be amazed at how much God gives us and to what lengths He goes for us because He loves us. I was reading in Acts about Paul's chat about his Roman citizenship with the commander who had just given orders to have him flogged. The commander says, "I had to pay a big price for my citizenship."  Paul responds, "But I was born a citizen." You hear the quiet confidence in his voice. The interrogators withdraw from him immediately.  And the commander is alarmed when he realizes he had put Paul, a Roman citizen, in chains.  It's a spiritual picture of our heavenly citizenship. Jesus paid the big price for us so that we could simply be 'born a citizen,' with all the rights and privileges our heavenly citizenship confers on us. The enemy fears us because we now have a power and authority behind us that far outweighs our own. The authority of all His government is behind us. Remember Whose you are this week when the enemy comes after you!
