A church in Williams Lake support a missionary who has been working in the Ukraine through the Mennonite Central Committee. Her name is Lydia and she is a teacher in a school of 500 students. Recently, they have had an influx of up to 9,000 with the addition of the refugee children flooding into the area. Last year, Lydia had put in an application to receive 500 shoeboxes through the US office. It had been accepted. At the end of November 2014, Lydia, along with many other teachers were preparing to hand out the shoeboxes that they had been sent. Before they got started, a girl came up to Lydia and said that she really needed a bra. Lydia offered to pray with the girl that the Lord would provide her with this item that she needed. She went on her way to help with the distribution. When it came time to hand out the shoeboxes, she randomly grabbed a box to give to this girl, again, praying that it would have what this girl needed. Well, to hers and the girl’s amazement, when she opened her shoebox, it did in fact have a bra in it that was EXACTLY the right size!
God heard her prayer long before she even knew it would be a prayer. God provided her need long before the need was there. God prompted someone in the US to meet this tangible need for someone on the other side of the world. Have you ever put a bra in a shoebox?? I know it’s not something I’ve ever added to a shoebox and it’s something I’ve never seen while inspecting shoeboxes in our Processing Centers! But thanks to this person’s faithfulness in following through with what God placed on their heart to include, a young girl in the Ukraine had her need met! Praise be to the God of the Universe who is so very personal and pays attention to our hearts each and every moment of our lives!!
