I have been invited to speak at Surrey Alliance Church February 19th by my friend Byron, who is the new Lead Pastor of that church.
As they transition to new leadership and a fresh vision of what Jesus has for them as a church, I feel led to preach out of Mark 8:27-30 where Jesus takes his disciples on a field trip to Caesarea Philippi.Point 2: Religion provides us a safe place to become ‘comfortable’ that can keep us from living out of fresh encounters.
Point 3: Breaking out of our comfort zones can mean facing the religious/cultural hindrances that we have become accustomed to. This can be difficult!
Point 4: Desire is key. How much do we really want to engage fully with the amazing Person, Jesus—no matter the cost.
To grapple further with these highlights, maybe have another listen to that message entitled "Storm Whipped", and ask yourself what Jesus might be saying to you. And to us as a church family.
